Clothed in His Righteousness | Verse 4

When He shall come with trumpet sound
Oh, may I then in Him be found
Clothed in His righteousness alone
Faultless to stand before the throne
– Verse 34 of The Solid Rock

When the Lord Jesus returns, how will he find us? Will he find us secretly believing that we deserve, more than others, to be accepted by God because of how good we’ve been? Or will he find Philippians 3:9 in our hearts?

For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith. – Philippians 3:9

Will he find us humbled by the gospel, with a desire to be found in him on that day, not adorned in a righteousness that is our own, but rather “dressed in his righteousness alone…faultless to stand before the Throne?”

Let’s renounce together any confidence that we would have in our own supposed goodness, and let’s ask God to prepare our hearts with the humility that is fitting for Christ’s return.
